MS 1054, Exodus 35:3 to 36:35

MS1054 consists of three columns of text which were removed from a larger Torah scroll. It is written on Gevil type parchment made out of goat skin. The parchment is in excellent condition despite its age. The ink is holding well, exhibiting very slight wear. The text narrative describes the gathering of donations by the Hebrews in order to build the Tabernacle in the desert. The writing is identical with that of MS 1019, 1020, 1025 and 1055.
The text is written in a classical Spanish/Moroccan hand. It exhibits the use of fine crownlets over the Sha'attnez Gez letters. Salient characteristics of this text include wide base "Shins," the use of the "Chet" of Rashi, Lameds with no heads, and the elongated NUN of "Ush'nei Kerashim" at the bottom of the last column. The text exhibits a format of 48 lines per column.
