Description
MS1034 was removed from a larger Torah Scroll. This sheet of parchment comes from the same Torah Scroll as #1033. It consists of four columns of text taken from Genesis 41:1 to 44:9 covering the dreams of Pharaoh and Joseph's interpretation and subsequent appointment as ruler over Egypt.
The scroll is written on a double ruled Klaf Mashuach. The parchment is ointed on both front and back. The parchment remains in good condition. However, the ink has already grayed.
This scroll is scribed in a classic Western Sephardic hand typical of the Spanish exiles that immigrated to Holland. The scroll is written in a 57 line per column format. Typical of this writ are the short top letter PEHs with extended noses, the use of the CHET of Rashi, flat based SHINs with an angled middle tooth, NUN SOFITS with their descendants emerging from the right side of the head, etc.
