Title
MS 1029, Genesis 31:23 to Exodus 32:30
Description
MS1029 originates from Poland. The panel was removed from a larger Torah scroll and contains two full columns of text written in a 52 line per column format. The section is written in an Arizal Script normally utilized by European Chasidic groups.
The Torah fragment contains the portions of Jacob and Laban that are part of the Genesis Bible narrative. The ink is powdering and exhibiting decay. Other salient characteristics include three small patches at the margins of the second column. One of the patches at the top is separating, thus revealing the hole that it was intended to cover.
