MS 1028, Deuteronomy 22:5 to 29:5

Dublin Core

Title

MS 1028, Deuteronomy 22:5 to 29:5

Description

MS1028 contains two full parchment sheets (yeriot) that were removed from a larger Torah scroll. In total, there are seven columns of text describing the Biblical commandments of how to act when encountering a bird's nest, the making of tassels and many others.
The parchment is dry and the ink is powdering and separating, exhibiting severe signs of decay. This scroll fragment exhibits a unique form of writing found in Southern Germany and Poland. It is a cross of Ketav Bet Yosef and Ketav Arizal. The use of a large letter KUF can be seen in the words "Kan Tzippor."
