MS 1047, Genesis 19:34 to 21:19

MS1047 details the birth of Isaac. The fragment comes from a larger scroll that came to Israel some 70+ years ago from Hungary. It is written in a classic European Ketav Bet Yosef. The scribe's hand exhibits “hairline” thin descending strokes that became predominant in European scrolls from the mid 20th Century.
The scroll is written on a lightly “ointed” parchment known as Klaf-Mashuach. The fragment consists of a single column of text formatted to contain 60 lines per column. The parchment remains strong and resilient, but is very dirty and full of grime. Likewise, glue residue can be seen on the front and verso of the fragment. We estimate that the original scroll was written some 180 years ago.
